I haven’t used Shark codecs as much as I used to since going to 64-bit…since one of the primary reasons was to get MKV playback both on my main HTPC and xbox360 extender. It works great on 32bit Win7, but on 64-bit you have to go into the Shark control panel and check back and forth to get smooth playback on both. I ended up converting my MKVs to M2TS to get around this issue. Lots of options with Shark though, I still would be interested in hearing how people here use it in their setup!

That gives me a couple of ideas to start with for reprogramming the remote.
1. When I enter the activity send a close command to the MC and then a start
2. Turn off the AVR then turn back on and choose the right input.
Because I know if I fiddle enough in the blind with the MC interface it will come back up. Now back in the day with my AMD 690G board I had to program a function to run HDMIon.

Yes, on start-up you could Power the AVR first set to input X, fire up TV, then set another command to the AVR to go to the HTPC input. I also have heard you can somehow have Harmony put in a delay to the AVR power up to ensure the TV is fired and loaded first.
NitDawgI have the same issue on my setup, 7MC –> AVR –> TV all via HDMI. I do not power down my HTPC, just a “stop” command and power off the AVR and TV. I have 3 different issues…1) Sometimes I get a wonky resolution, which if I exit and restart 7MC, all returns to norm; 2) Blank screen v1 which can be resolved by changing inputs on my AVR or power cycle the AVR (I think both of these are EDID issues?); 3) The black screen o’ nothing per the OP. For that I have to use Windows+L, login screen re-appears, and then I can get back into 7MC.
NitDawgSolid info. Thanks Aaron!
NitDawgI’m far from an AVR guru, but is there a general formula for the amount of power/channel needed for a given room size? Is more always better (I know you can always turn in down) but more along the lines of dynamic range (or are speakers a big part of that equation).
NitDawgNo, rolling back updates is not the answer. This is all over some of the other 7mc forums and that will not resolve the issue, people have even re-installed the OS. The answer is to use the browser for the interim and wait for the fix.
NitDawgI hate doing manual edits on just my one HTPC, I can’t imagine doing that on multiple rigs. Nice work, glad you found a solution!
NitDawgI use GuideTool. Spend the $5 to get all the goods. Much easier interface to edit your lineup, assign the proper guide data, if necessary. I set it up once on my HTPC and use it to back it up in case something wonky happens. Install it on all your HTPC and you can edit all remotely with the same channel lineup.

I use my Hide Media Center Menu Strips to remove native strips and another tool of mine to addremove menu items. MCS gives you the most flexibility though.

Yo mikinho, I’ve used your Hide app before…doesn’t get much easier than that . I tried the Start Menu Plus, but was never really sure how to do anything with that one…although I thought I tried another app from you that sort of did it all, maybe I was just dreaming…
How to either of these approaches (mikinho or MCS) “extend” to the 360? As always, I appreciate the cornucopia of HTPC info from you guys at MR.
NitDawgAaron, thanks for the tips, I’ll give it a shot!
NitDawgHuluPlus, ESPN3, and Netflix have nice interfaces on the 360, its just outside of the MediaCenter extended environment. As far as I know, anything flash-based that works on the host PC will not work on the MC extended environment on the 360. So even though there is a nice hulu-desktop launcher you can install on the host PC and works great there, that doesn’t work on the 360.
NitDawgChecked it out. Interesting, and some of that HD content looks pretty nice for streaming. I may need a shower after visiting that site, but I can see how that could be quite popular.
NitDawgA month later, still can’t get into the new TGB. A place I used to frequent multiple times a day has been replaced by something a little more red.
NitDawgFirst marketplace points, now this. Wife is going to ban me from perusing MR and I will be forced to browse on my smartphone in the closet. Great deal!
NitDawgBeauty is in the eye of the beholder
I do know that some titles they have to “expire” so online content there is not permanent. Still waiting for multi-channel audio and more HD content, but it has been slowly getting better.
