Beware that’s the theatrical version and it generally sells cheaply. There is a decent deal for the extended version if you don’t mind ordering off Amazons’ Canadian website. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3402440
oliverredfoxParticipantDon’t use the software included with USB record players; you’re right most of it is bad. It’ll act like any sound input device so just use a program like Audacity to record the tracks and you’ll be fine.
oliverredfoxParticipantUSB turntables + lose-less recording isn’t bad; you still are going lose a little of the flavor just like with CDs. I hear laser turntables are really good for backing up/playing older LPs.

I hated to spend the extra $90 on something which you would think would “just work” but there you go… sometimes things don’t work like they are supposed to.

We should have a forum thread called “I spent $90 on the HDMI Detective and all I got was working HDMI.”
oliverredfoxParticipantWow, the specs on that are insane.
oliverredfoxParticipant
Ahh… that makes more sense. Thanks for explaining, as that’s not what I gleaned from your post (obviously). I feel better now.

That’s what happens when I try to quickly write posts while doing other work. LOL
oliverredfoxParticipantThe plus is still 160/250 making it a bit slower than the Vertex 2. My post wasn’t to say that Vertex Plus had an update making it faster, it was that it is the 1st to use the new Indilinx controller firmware bringing new life to an old controller. So anyone who sees Indilinx shouldn’t just assume it’s bad just because the chipset is older, still a lot of juice that they were able to squeeze out of it.
oliverredfoxParticipant
Just to clarify, that’s not the same one as was originally posted. The one from CompUSA is the Vertex Plus, but the original deal from Newegg was for the Vertex 2.
For anyone that doesn’t follow OCZ stuff. The Vertex Plus while using the Indilinx controller has a revamped firmware the bumps the capabilities up a bunch. At some time the firmware boost will be made available for a bunch of other order Vertex drives too. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?88696-Arowana-FW-when Kinda nifty how they gave new life to an older controller.
oliverredfoxParticipantSo the update for this finally rolled out(apparently just a few days ago according to people at avsforum). When I first got my TV, I accepted the occasional interlacing artifacts in exchange for being able to use cheap glasses. Today I went to watch Tangled 3D and the difference was amazing, not a single interlace line to be seen. It felt like I was watching on my 3D plasma display but without the headache from the flashing glasses. If any of you previously saw these TVs in stores and found its 3D lacking, you should check them out again (pop into settings to check the firmware on a demo TV and make sure it’s at 4.01.30 or higher). Now I just wish there was more quality content in 3D so I’d have an excuse to use it more than once in a while.
oliverredfoxParticipantIf I’m understanding right you have it:
Video Out 1: DVI>HDMI Adapter>PC Monitor
Video Out 2: HDMI > AVR > HDTV
Have you tried doing:
Video Out 1: DVI>HDMI Adapter>AVR>PC Monitor
Video Out 2: HDMI > HDTV
(I guess you could swap video 1 and 2 if that made any difference)You could always use a hardware device like the HDMI Detective to make the system always think the TV is there and active but does seem like their should be an easy software/setting fix.
oliverredfoxParticipantIf we’re hitting the $1/GB price range now, what are we going to see in 2 months for Black Friday? =)
oliverredfoxParticipantGiven that 10%+ of the NAND isn’t used until the drive’s firmware/controller detects a failing area and then activates a new block of the NAND to replace it, a memtest really wouldn’t work for testing the drive effectively.
oliverredfoxParticipantI went to get one and the price went up $20. =(
oliverredfoxParticipantIt’s nickel and dime deals like this that make me want Amazon Prime.
oliverredfoxParticipant
You keep tempting me to buy the HDMI Detective 🙂
You know you want one (once you get it, you’ll wonder why you held out so long).
I have minimized the resolution changes by using Andrew’s Standby Helper to shutdown WMC on standby and open it upon resume, but they still happen every once in a while.
He’s not even going into Standby, it sounds like his computer freaks out when the TV is turned off while computer is left on.
