Sounds interesting if it works well per cost.  But technically the article is wrong, it isn’t fanless since it is a fan.

Try Hdmi-Yo.  It will redo the HDMI handshake on resume (or on a bound key press).

B&H had the 128gb model for $139 earlier, so it’s getting pretty close to $1 at that size.  Black Friday will probably push some of them well under a $1/GB <fingers crossed>.

If I connect to TV Audio Out will the volume still be controlled by the remote or will it have to have separate volume controls?

            From http://eirikso.com/2005/11/16/how-to-program-the-buttons-on-your-mce-remote/
By default, the VOL + and VOL – buttons on the remote control for Media Center PC control the system volume on your computer, and the TV button has no command assigned to it until it “learns” one.
Follow the directions on there and reset your MCE remote to default.  Then reprogram the MCE remote to power the TV on/off but leave the volume settings at default.  It’ll then control your computers volume level and you’ll be able to hook any kind of speaker you want up and be able to adjust it from a distance.  Or you can program the volume buttons using your receiver’s remote and control it that way.

You didn’t mention a headphone jack, but if you have one, typically TV volume will control the output off the headphone outs.  Then you can just use a pair of cheap amplified computer speakers hooked to that.

If you’re looking for something with a small footprint and a little punch, some of the sound bars aren’t too bad.  You could hook up a unit like this to the TV’s digital audio out.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002EPF6YO/  I had a different model sound bar in the bedroom at one point and for what it was, it sounded pretty good.  (the only reason I linked the Vizio is that I’ve seen it down at CostCo and they general carry decent products)

Be sure that all your wires are Cat 6 (or Cat 5e)

You’ll want to decide if you want one big switch or a couple small switches.  I have a 5-port switch my office and I run a long Cat 6 cable to my living room with a second 5-port switch.

LOL.  They ran out of 0’s earlier so I had to settle on a bunch of 1’s being downloaded.  A lot of the sales are one day long, with different stuff on sale every day thru the 10th, so it is possible to miss out.

Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale is supposed to be pretty cool.  And at $5 today, I might just have to impulse buy it.

Wow, that’s an amazing price.  They’ve got a ton of other good games on sale too, I’m going to get Borderlands GotY for $7.50.  The website is getting hammered, I may just have to buy my stuff later.

I looked over here during a few minute break and wind up buying a power supply.  *must work on impulse control*

It’s for recording live episodes.  You could use it to record every live broadcast of a sporting event you like.  I’m assuming News and few other type shows might fall under it too.

I saw that review.  The box I want to put it doesn’t do anything except record and playback shows (4 HD streams and 2 NTSC).  Video decoding is offloaded onto an ATI card, so the processor doesn’t really take any hits.  It’s running an old AMD X2 4600+ 65w CPU, but I’m tempted to bump it to a 35w Intel and try and lower the power signature even more on it.  I could probably ditch the ATI card too and use Intel HD graphics for playback and really lower the footprint.  I do all my transcoding and power work on my i5 system.

When I saw this, I got really excited.  Then I remembered it’s the G620T I want.  I hope they put the 35w one on sale soon.  Not that $15 more is a big deal, but it makes buying easier to justify when it is on sale.

I just got sucked into buying a bunch of stuff off Slickdeals.  Must repeat manta, “do not need, do not need…”.  This is going to be tempting me all day.
