For this price I may pick up a second.  If that gives you an idea of the review (and I very much disliked the Logitech diNovo Mini)

I’m temped too.  Do you know if the two would overlap signals or if the dongles use a signature(etc) to keep that from happening?

The anti-spam filter keeps tagging me.  Grrrr…  okay, short things short.  Own one.  Awesome RF range.  Goes through a wall and about 20’+ without issue.

This is the keyboard I use in my living room.  My HTPC is in the room next door (long HDMI cable) and the RF dongle is so good that it gets picked up 20′ away through a wall.  Only thing I wish it had was a back light.  All the reviews claimed great range and it really does have it.

Thanks for reminding me of that guide.  I redid it off the calibration guide.  The stuff I found on AVSforums pretty much put me spot on for correct settings.  A lot of it involved killing all the dynamic settings, reducing brightness, upping contrast a little.  Quite nice now.  Still get occasional flashlighting in the black bars when watching movies that aren’t 16:9 but overall the blacks look good now.  I got spoiled from the deep blacks on the Samsung Plasma.  Properly set up now, the LG 47LW5600 is pretty good.  And the passive 3D makes up for any little shortcomings.

Awww, the deal is already dead.  But as long as you’ve got a thread started, I’m curious.  I don’t know much about monitor calibration tools.  Is this one a better model than most?  I sold off my Samsung plasma and picked up one of the new LG passive 3D LED LCDs over the weekend.  The initial black levels were driving me nuts so I spent a bunch of time over at AVSforum digging up info and setting up the TV.  I eventually found settings that I’m more or less happy with, but I’ve always wondered how much more I could squeeze out of a setup with a calibrator of my own.

I went to download the app of the day and it directed me to amazon to add credit card info, so I bailed. What is the scam with asking for credit card info?
The Amazon App store annoys the hell out of me.  It requires 1-click turned on and doesn’t re-ask for a password before allowing an app purchase.  The last thing I want is a wide open app linked to a credit card.  I ended up setting up a 2nd Amazon account just for the app a day and linking it to a pre-paid card from a mail-in-rebate.  I’ll add the credit card to the account settings, get my free app, then remove the credit card info from the account.  You can redownload apps you’ve “previously purchased” (silly that you need a valid credit card linked for a free app) without having a credit card on file.  It’s a lot of hoops to jump through for a $.99 app (sometimes more expensive) so I most days I don’t even bother.

Prime95 is good for stress testing.  You run it off ‘Ultimate Boot CD for Windows’ to eliminate your Windows 7 build as being a test variable.

Have you doubled checked to make sure your heat sink is on good?

The newer power supply testers will give you LCD readouts of the stats.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899706001  But it tends to be cheaper and easier to just grab a 2nd power supply and return it if it wasn’t the issue.

I’m hoping Amazon will try to compete and price match.  I’m way too lazy to deal with going to Target to buy it.

You should also be able to manually copy the channel XML files over to the other machines.

The Intel HD graphics driver is known to have that issue.  Version 8.15.10.2279 works for me, the newer versions crash on HDMI if I use them.
i would be *shocked* if you receive anything but phenomenal support from either SiliconDust or CETON on their products from wherever you buy it, they both have pretty impressive reputations

I agree.  Back when SiliconDust was first hacking their drivers to trick Windows MCE into allowing QAM to work, their hands on approach was amazing.  I’ve rarely seen companies that are so willing to deal directly with customers and help anyway they could.  I remember many a dealings with Jafa over there, and they were always good.
