PAPutzbackSpectator
I’d have to agree with the MS XP MCE keybard. My only issues with it are, no backlighting, the thumbstick takes a long time to get use to and once the battteries start to lose juice the thumstick gets laggy.
I am looking for a replacement for Father’s day and I want backlighting, touchpad and media controls.
i’ll take a look at the IO Gear one above. Since the Amazon reviews slam the Logitech keyboards for bad battery life, short timeouts on the backlighting, and radio interference.
PAPutzbackSpectatorAny rumours out there about how the Xbox One will work with Media Center and Ceton Tuners?
PAPutzbackSpectatorYou should be able to do that in Collection Management. I’d check the FAQ at MyMovies and post questions in their forums.
PAPutzbackSpectatorI tried Win 8 for a couple weeks and could not handle the frustration any longer. The WAF was 0 also and that helped push the reinstallation of Win 7. As the others have said. Unless you are missing something then why go through the expense and headache.
PAPutzbackSpectatorI thought one of the big reasons for 4k was that currently 3d displays get the 1080 p resoultion cut in half so going to 4k would bring the resolution back up to around 1080P.
From about.com
Also, 3D TVs and Video Projectors currently in use that employ the Passive Polarized Glassesmethod of viewing, resolution of the resultant 3D image is cut to 540p (960×540 pixels) for each eye, which is 1/2 1080p resolution. In comparison, the same TV displays a 2D image in 1080p resolution.
However, by employing a 4K resolution panel or screen, 3D images viewed via Passive Polarized Glasses can be displayed with 1080p (1920×1080) resolution for each eye. The additional bonus is that when viewing 2D images on the same TV, the viewer will see a full 4K resolution image.
PAPutzbackSpectatorBut that is only if you add a CETON Tuner. I have 1 4 channel Ceton Tuner and it did not grab the 4HDHRs I have installed. So I’ll have to buy the tuner salad.
PAPutzbackSpectatorIf the encoding is done locally than I assume my problem lies elsewhere since the problem is random, yet on every file. The other day I fired up a mkv file and it buffered and was laggin. I waited a few minutes and then it played fine until around 45 minutes where it lagged so bad I had to quit. So my guess is a network issue or the way the XBOX buffers the file. I figured if I paused it the buffer would fill up like a youtube video. But it does not appear to be the case. I should probably throw my intel nic back in the WMC box.
PAPutzbackSpectatorThat’s funny that you mention that lock up issue. It took me second to realize that I don’t have it anymore since I went to using the XBOX. I don’t even have Netflix installed on the PC anymore to help with WAF. Now they know to use the 360. Although I am spending more money on Zune rentals.
PAPutzbackSpectator
Glad you are back to non-stuttering viewing. If you happen to have a Ceton InfiniTV, the current driver package will allow WMC to have 30 tuners.
Wow! If only TVs came with an MC lite edition that could tune in some networked Ceton tuners. I wonder what other applications they thought of when making that change.
So is TunerSalad the only way to increase the tuner count?
PAPutzbackSpectatorWell the rebuild fixed everything. But that MCBackup was a nightmare. I thought I could run it once I got Windows and the tuners drivers installed. But then it said he created one tuner entry and the guide. But opening windows kept prompting to go through setup. So I did and then ended up with my guide doubled and only 4 tuners. (I think I need to buy Tuner Salad now). The only way I could get it to work was to setup my the MC as normal, delete the database in Ehome and then run the restore.
PAPutzbackSpectatorI’m going to keep an eye on this link. If I can’t fix my stuttering I think I’ll be checking out the ASUS board. If anyone gets bored and wants to create a publish wish list that would be awesome. INTEL based. I’ve been AMD only for about ten years but I think with SandyBridge out it is now time to jump brands. Would the processor and ASUS board posted by Crim support 8 tuners and 5 extenders? Father’s day is coming so I need to get my list ready.

If you decide to perform a clean install (and after installing KLite, it may be the best course of action), you will not have to re-pair your CableCARD. You only would need to do that if you obtained a different CableCARD or a different CableCARD tuner.
As far as restoring your guide settings and recording schedule, you can try mcBackup.

You mention installing Klite as my best course of action. Is Klite a better codec than whatever Media center and TMT use? If McBackup works I might try to use my backup from Windows Home server 11 and then restore my guide.
PAPutzbackSpectatorI’ve got a kingston v series in my HTPC and it has been running fine for almost two years now. Another 120 gig one in another pc running about the same length of time and two more Vertex SSDs in my gaming pc for over a year. No problems on any of them. I’d read the reviews on Newegg and grab the least problematic one.
PAPutzbackSpectatori signed up for stars last night and I am getting subscription required. How do I get the cablecard tuner to rescan?
PAPutzbackSpectatorI found the settings and it appears it has to be set to ten minutes or more. Any less and it gets cut off and put on the beginning of the next show on the same channel.
