I can’t find that setting. I have seen it before though. Is it a per show, season or recording default setting.

That Laptop should have a the old style video out that a lot of TVs have for connecting to a PC. But I would start at the TV First and work back. So get a TV with the providers she wants. Hulu, Netflix…

Then they run pretty hot. They must push the limits in a fanless case. I’m surprised they don’t have heatsinks.

If Netflix works and bluray does not then I’d definitely say it is a codec or diver issue. There is no way Netflix requires the GPU capabilities that BD does.

Well I removed my backup tuner (The comcast HD box) and my Signal has dropped to -6.3 and SNL to 34.8. So I’ll record whatever is on fox tonight to see if my problem is gone.

What is a safe temp to run the tuners at. Right now I am looking at 59.5 but I think that is about 6 degrees cooler than yesterday since I turned on an additional case fan. But now my case is on the loud side when it isn’t idle. At what temp am I going to hurt the tuner. If it is more than 70 I might as well disable that fan.

I found that the path to the MCUpdate.exe is not in an environment variable so I could not run it from anywhere. I had to search my system for it and then use shift+right click to get the “Open command window from here” prompt and then run the command from that directory.

That wiped me out, thanks. The only issue I had after that was that MCE setup would not find my CC tuners, only the HDHR tuners. So I had to uninstall the Ceton driver and reinstall.

Now I ran mcbackup after to restore my scheduled recordings and it still wants to record every showing of some shows even though they are set to record new episodes only. I think I’ll clean that up as I see the shows that have the issue. A simple delete the recording and set it again should work, hopefully.

Sweet. I’ll give it a shot tonight. I tried the MCE Reset Toolbox from the MadeForMediaCenter site and didn’t have any luck. I have a guide showing on my HTPC but this app and the MC Guide editor on this site didn’t show anything.

I was running into this last night and it hasn’t happened much since I put an Intel Nic in my HTPC. but on my XBOX a little window would pop up with a network issue message. So I’ll be moving my CETON tuner out of my WHS box and into my HTPC so I have one less hop.

I’ve seen cheap wireless routers stall out before and cause disconnects also. You might go borrow a better router over a weekend to see if that fixes your problem. Something with dual channels.

I almost had this in my cart but there were so many bad reviews I decided to hold off. Not to mention there have been a lot of deals on SSDs the last week or so. It is like they are clearing inventory out for the next gen.

You are basically in the same boat as I am. Hopefully someone comes through. there are a couple guide tools out there that I don’t know if you could back up the existing lineup, add the tuner, and overwrite the lineup with just the channels. At the least maybe there is something out there to export the list of checked items so you could easily go through and check off items with a print off of the old list.

Would I lose my recording schedule? I’ll recreate library links but the schedule would be a PITA.

Have you disabled sleep to see if it works ok?

I am running an AMD Athlon II X2 265 Regor 3.3GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX265OCGMBOX on my HTPC. It records up to 8 channels but the most I’ve probably seen is 4 via my Ceton tuner.

Why run backup software. Just shut the virtual machine down and copy the VHD, VDI or whatever off to a spare drive.
