I made the switch to OTA and netflix 4 months ago now, and I dont miss a thing.. Ok I lied I miss ESPN 😛 If TW didnt suck ass and would allow me to access ESPN 3 with my xbox I would be super happy. But I doubt that will happen. I believe those numbers are spot on, there have been 3 people here at work that have cut the cable and moved to OTA too, and they are super happy with it. I think the consumer is getting smarter, when they see these internet ready STB’s that can stream content for cheap when compared to cable then people are going to stop paying for cable. The quality of content out there keeps improving, revision 3 is a prime example.Â
I have an idea on how to get around this whole TW problem. If you know someone with an ISP that gets ESPN, or if I can find a proxy service out there that gets ESPN3. Not sure how to do it yet since I havent done any research on it. I’m guessing I will have to either put together a VPN tunnel using another ISP (program running on a PC with a good ISP and using DD-WRT ?) and redirect the xbox to use that vpn tunnel or redirect traffic from the xbox to a proxy service.

Quick update on this, I know this is an older post but as everyone knows the new dashboard for xbox 360 was released on Monday.  ESPN on the xbox wont stream live content or display full events if you have Time Warner ISP/Cable. I did a little searching around, ESPN and Timewarner are working together to make this work. However ESPN on the xbox 360 requires you to have digital cable subscription plus Time warner internet to view any of the full events on your xbox. I tested out some of the short clips yesterday and the quality is quite impressive when compared to ESPN3’s website.

that instant watcher site is awesome, nice find. I had a crappy connection about 2 months ago and I can see a huge speed different for how fast the titles load in media center netflix. With a slower connection mine would buffer occasionally, take longer to load in media center etc. Netflix must pull a ton of data in media center when loading up. I wonder why they don’t cache the titles on the HDD? It is a PC with generally adequate amounts of space generally.Â

very nice cases I like the E6. I do like the openness on the inside, leaves lots of room for cable management
