Here’s another review posted by newfiend at TGB: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gt-430-review/1AMD’s open-source 3D initiative seems pretty interesting and seems noteworthy that they will support their 5xxx and perhaps even some 4xxx cards.
Nvidia’s 3D support is 2 years old, if not more, so just about any nvidia card you’d wanna buy can do it now. Its nice being able to demo 3D with red/blue ‘glasses’ in lieu of 3DTV support from 3DTV Play for those of us who aren’t gonna buy a 3DTV for a long ass time.
That is why I said “first HTPC-centric consumer”. The GTX 460 and 450 already offer it but neither is very HTPC friendly w/ the higher power consumption. The GT 420 also offers it but it is an OEM only card.
Ahh, gotcha. Big difference.

Wait a sec, this isn’t the first card to do this from Nvidia, that would have been the GTX 460. This card, however, is a better physical fit for an HTPC.
SageTV can be very stable if you can just quit fiddling with it.
The same can be said of any HTPC app.

That sounds very likely, but you’d think if that was the case, then more people would have the same issue. the HDHR is a popular device, there’s gotta be more than one Ceton owner who also has an HDHR. Oddly enough, there’s likely a large number of those who got rid of/removed the HDHR when they got the Ceton.

I came back to this thread after how many hours its been since I posted, and so its been on my mind what I said, and just I want to say I don’t think the poll was biased in any way, or was it intended to get a certain outcome. All I’m saying is that a good number of Sage users come to this site, as its one of the few that I know of that continually posts Sage-related news.
On the contrary, if this poll was on Engadget, it’d be much different. I’d say XBMC/Plex/Boxee would do much better, probably than 7MC.
In all, I think I could have used better words to get across my meaning. I’m not trying to imply any intended bias.

This is a Sage-centric site in many ways, and I think that the poll would have turned out differently on another site.

wow. the cheapest GTX 460 on newegg is $170. That’s a hard sell compared to a $50 HD5XXX card.
Or the the integrated GPU in the Clarksdale i3.
But the use for an HTPC with a card with the power of a GTX 460 is for gaming. An i3, combined with a 460 or similar card, would do very well with most current PC games, even Crysis. Most these newer non-Atom HTPC machines would be fine for gaming if they just had a proper GPU.
