I have a Harmony One as well, but can’t get over the simplicity of the old silver media center remote. I am trying to get a solution that I can remain using that remote.
If I connect to TV Audio Out will the volume still be controlled by the remote or will it have to have separate volume controls?
SJMayeHi Guys,
I am trying to do something simple. I have a full Dolby 5.1 surround system with AV receiver. The problem with that is I am trying to make it so everything is run via the original Windows Media Center remote control. This is for me and the wife factor. All I want to do is turn on the TV and the remote would control volume of the external TV speakers. No turning on a separate amp. Just a clean, lean install.
For simplicity I would be OK with L,C,R and a sub. Just don’t want to get in to the hassle of wiring back speakers as I may be moving soon.
I want to use my TV’s digital audio out coax connector as it offers dolby digital output. I have considered computer speakers as the have their own amp. I have also considered a device I saw a while back, but can’t find it anymore. It was a simple amp only box for windows media center. I think it would allow me to connect my existing speakers to it and it to my TV.
I am always looking for what is not built.
SJMayeI enjoyed the Green Button but even as it was I found Missing Remote to provide better technical information and feedback. I am happy here.
SJMayeI did buy this software a while back but was troubled by its inability to use the MC remote to navigate once you select a show. I posted a comment on the review. Sure wish there was a solution.

do they have their own 10′ interface? I always thought it was just a website, but i’ll admit i haven’t checked them out in a while

Hi Mike,
Did more experimentation. Clicker does work with a remote, but I see some problems. The remote switches columns on the display, but on my screen I cannot see which column is highlighted. So it appears it was really still designed for a mouse and keyboard, but works with a remote by luck. Next problem is when you go to watch a show it links out to the network site and your remote does not control the media viewer playing the program.
As I recall I tried the Clicker plug in for Boxee and it did work OK. However it did not get all the same content.
SJMayeI simply could not find out why the XMLs were being deleted as soon as they were dropped in the in the CommercialsXML folder. I took a stab in the dark and assumed DTB was deleting them as part of some file cleanup.
It did not hurt too that there was a newer version out. I went to the new version and all is good. I created a scheduled task using the commscan.bat. Everything is working great. Thanks for all the help.
SJMayeGood News! I am pretty sure it worked. The DOS prompt box shows the files processed, but the log shows nothing but a date and time in it. No files listed.
Now for the weird part. The XML files were not in the CommercialXML directory. In fact they were no where. I know I saw them starting to populate this directory, but when I came back after processing stopped there was nothing there. Thinking it may be something to do with file cleanup I dropped a spare XML file in that folder. Gave it a couple seconds and it was gone.
I see no where that cleanup is supposed to delete XMLs. Any idea?
SJMayeYou are correct. That is what I was doing. As I mentioned above this is all new to me. I moved the batch file to the root drive and am now running it from the command prompt you stated. No errors. Waiting for a result. Will post back.
SJMayeAt that point it was not a administrator command prompt. I ran it again. Still did not process, but I do see a processed_list.log and completed.log on my root drive. They are empty but the update when the batch is run. Thus I think we are closer.
Trying to dissect this the first error could be a syntax thing. The batch file text is below. Note the first command in bold and then compare to what it replied back when run. All I did to this line was to change the extension from *.DVR-MS to *.wtv.
Batch file
@echo off
set recfolder=D:Recorded TV
set logfolder=C::process_recfolder
echo %DATE% %TIME% Starting commercials scan
call :processed_list
for %%f in (“%recfolder%*.wtv”) do (call :scan_comms “%%f”)
if not exist “%logfolder%completed.txt” goto :end
type “%logfolder%completed.txt”
del /q “%logfolder%completed.txt”
call :processed_list
goto :end:scan_comms
find /I %1 “%logfolder%processed_list.log” >nul
if %ERRORLEVEL%==0 goto :eof
“C:Program Files (x86)DVRMSToolboxDVRMStoMPEG.exe” /if=%1 /of=%1 /act=nativecommdetect >nul
echo Completed: %~dpnx1>>”%logfolder%completed.txt”
goto :eof:processed_list
echo PROCESSED FILE LIST>”%logfolder%processed_list.log”
echo %DATE% %TIME%>>”%logfolder%processed_list.log”
for %%f in (“D:Recorded TV*.xml”) do (echo %recfolder%%%~nf.dvr-ms>>”%logfolder%processed_list.log”)
goto :eof:end
echo %DATE% %TIME% Finished commercials scan
goto :eofResponse

SJMayeIf I use your media center plug-in will it function like anything else within media center?
SJMaye
One way to get Clicker in WMC is via the Kylo browser.

I have Kylo, but won’t the remote function more like a mouse through Kylo?
SJMayeHi George,
I sort of did. As stated at the end of my last I moved on to Andrew’s version with more lines of code. I changed the directories to match. I THINK I have them correct, but here is what I get.
First run by double clicking the “commprocess.bat” from the desktop I get this.
I created a log file named Process_List.log in root drive and no change.
Next I opened a command prompt window and got this . Still has issues. Any clues?

SJMayeTesting did not go well. Something must be wrong. I ran the batch file manually. An DOS window popped up for a millisecond and disappeared. I checked the XML folder and nothing was added. Then got a message that system was running slow. Which I had already noticed. It seemed like whatever I did had it trying to do something, but it was unsuccessful. I ended up rebooting to get things back in order.
I have re-read your link. Decided to go down further and try your more involved solution. Will report back.
SJMayeThere are people far more capable on here that will give you the answer you seek. For now I will tell you that I had the same problem you are having. Success sharing folders was hit or miss. All the while not sure of what I was doing. Even if it did work I wondered if I was making my machine less secure.
That all changed when I purchase Network Magic by Cisco (Pure Networks). As one of the feature it offer one button click to share folders or drives. Cool thing is it also gives you a graphical representation of your network.
They offer a 30-day trial. If all else fails download, run the trial, share your folders and uninstall. The folder sharing stays. I normally would not buy a utility like this but it was that useful.

I’ve got a plug-in that launches their site w/ IE. It is remote friendly. I’ll dig it up. I had e-mailed them asking permission to use their logo for it and never heard back so put it off to the side.

I never tested it, but the Clicker interface appears to be designed for a remote. Glad to hear a remote works.
