Another question. One of my TVs extender is an XBOX 360 and working well. Is there any way to use the USB MC remote receiver on an XBOX?
SJMayeThanks Aaron. Seems the site just m,ust have been down yesterday becuase now your link is working. Ordered the filter.
Any idea why auto email was not to me sent telling me why you had replied to this thread? Odd.

Regarding security, if the units do not support encryption, you can physically make your network secure by placing a filter that blocks out frequencies above 1GHz at the cable drop. You just need to make sure that your MoCA adapters are communicating at frequencies above 1GHz to be secure. Here’s an example of a filter that is designed for this.

Aaron, your link to the filter seems to be bad. Do you have another?
SJMayeThanks for all the replies. Sorry for coming back so late, but I no longer get automated emails about replies to my posts. Anyone know what is wrong?
SJMayeHello Aaron et al,
I installed the Actiontec units. Truly plug and play. Attached wires and powered up. Immediately worked. WOW! That rarely happens for me. I have three of the Actiontec units installed (at router, at media center, at extender TV) and one extender working fine. Highly recommended for those who need a network, but do not want to get in to the mess of running wire.
Now I just need to get the filter to make sure no one can access my network from outside.
SJMayeYour issues seem to be the same as mine. I am not concerned with stability. I am used to the qwerks of Win7 MC and always find great help here at Missing Remote when I have something I don’t understand. The part of Q and Echo that lure me is greater media integration and streaming of internet content.
As for me I would guess as Q and Echo come out the may be prohibitively high to begin with, so I may wait. In the mean time I will also wait to read more about Win8 MC before upgrading. I would like to see if they are going to invest anytime in MC or just repackage what I already have. They can keep the Metro interface. I like MC just the way it is. Only thing I have seen I like as much is XBMC. I would switch in a minute if it could use my ceton card to record.
SJMayeI thought I had this fixed with the previous post, but the problem was transient. My new location requires a tuning adapter. I installed it and still got the device driver error. Out of shear frustration I went back and updated Playready and all the problems went away. All is workign fine now.
SJMayeUpdate. I read around about this issue. There were a couple of comments that caught my eye.
- There could be an HDMI incompatibility between MC and the TV
- The TV I am trying to connect to is not the same TV this system was running with before.
- You can get the Display driver error message when using multiple displays. My case has a 12″ built-in vga display. The video card connection to this display is DVI–>VGA converter then vga cable to the built-in display. The HDMI cable goes from the video card HDMI port to the TV. This setup on the other TV was never a problem whether the video settings were set to clone or extend or to show only on one monitor. In this case it did make a difference. Once I set to only send output to the TV the problem seems to have disappeared. All the channels I checked worked fine.
Wierd. The Mitsubishi TV I had been using was never a problem. The one I am connecting to now is a Sumsung. Never would have thought.
Thanks for the help. If anything else crops up I will comeback to you.
SJMayeHello John,
I am using a Cisco cablecard. Here are my Conditional Access Details. Do they make any sense to you?

EMMs Processed: 0I have checked a number of channels. The Display driver error thing I get is not consistent even for the local channels. A few times I was able to view CBS on the SD and HD channels, but later got the display driver error thing. Same for ABC. I got either the diplay driver error or Service is unavailable errors or a black screen for those channels. I am currently recording SD CBS, HD CBS, SD ABC, and HD ABC to see what playback is like on VGA.
I also put a trouble ticket in to Ceton.
SJMayeJohn,
Thanks. I did the Media Center Restore and as you suspected, it changed nothing with the Display driver error problem.
I would have no problem having Time Warner back out to finish the install and confirm channels, but I believe the HDCP issue is something with may MC. I have no idea why since it is the same MC I was using fine in Nashville. FRUSTRATING
Another thing I think there is a problem with is the signal level. I thought I read it well below -5dB.
SJMayeThanks for the input. I may have some other things going on. Things are a little better. I got the same results with another cable verfied as HDMI 1.3. I then went and followed these instructions. I am now able to get a few channels, but still others either have no picture or still get the driver display error. I did not check them all, but I was able to get local channel OK. I did see that if I disconnected the HDMI cable from the MC some of the channels would display on my HTPC case built-in display (vga).
I am essentially starting all over here in Wisconsin. Would reinstalling/resetting MC as if just installed help? If so, any hints how? I have no problems starting over.
SJMayeHello,
I have not been able to try another cable yet. I will go over to the house and do so today. But it struck me odd. I have been using TeamViewer to do work on the MC remotely (which I have done many times) and still get the same error. How can the HDMI cable have anything to do with this?
Again, many thanks for the help.
SJMayeI have not tried another HDMI cable. I am using the same one that was working fine when on Comcast. I have some others to try. I will report back.
SJMayeThat sounds great. I ordered 4 of the Actiontec units. Although it is more expensive than running ethernet cabling it sure will save time and effort.
Thanks for your help, Aaron.
SJMayeAnother question on these devices- Say I use one to bring the network in to my home office. Can I connect the MoCA adapter to a 4-port switch in order to connect multiple computers and printers to it?
