Did not work for me. When I went to Recorded TV we tried to watch a movie recorded from TV and it crashed too. That movie was, of course, also present in the Movie Library. I decided to try delete. Once deleted all worked OK again. A corrupted recording did all that?
SJMayeThanks. I will give it a try and get back to you.
SJMayeWill give it a try. Thx.
SJMayeWell I think the time has come that I may need this help. MC is crashing everytime I go in to My Movies. I am guessing something is corrupt. Should I try this method? Or try changing the locations for my movie libraries?
SJMayeSame for me.
SJMayeNo. Using ATI/AMD. No issues prior to using the driver moninfo created for my TV.
SJMayeUpdate on my use of moninfo.exe. After using my custom INF driver for my DLP TV I started getting random BSOB and autoreboot. Do not know for sure that was the problem, but it seemed to coincide. I switched back to the generic MS PNP driver and no crashes for 2 days.
I reinstalled HDMIYo. Will see what happens.

SJMaye
Also, SJMaye mentioned Monitor Asset Manager ..not familiar with how to use it to construct a custom .inf file for my Pioneer plasma??
I read this from this post, but here are the simple instructions the poster gave. Worked easily.
1. Download a program called Moninfo which reads the EDID info for your monitor
2. If you have an AVR, disconnect it and connect directly to the TV with HDMI otherwise skip this step
3. Run Moninfo, click on your TV manufacturer’s name, and click File->Create INF and save it as DISPLAY.inf or something such as that
4. If you have an AVR reconnect it in the chain, run Moninfo again, click on your AVR manufacturer’s name and click File->Merge extension bloc with INF and merge it into DISPLAY.inf that you just created.
5. Go to device manager and replace the Generic PnP monitor driver with your new INF.
From the way this works it seems that Win7 gets confused and in my case selects Generic driver for my TV. This creates a custom driver. You tell Win7 specifically to use this driver. So far seems to work.
SJMayeInteresting and easy approach. Since starting this thread i did a full refresh of my MC and have not yet installed Showanalyzer. I will try this. Thanks.
SJMayeI had HDMI handshake issues. Tried HDMIyo and worked OK. Just got annoying to have to prod the HTPC to look for the monitor again because handshake failed. I then read about Monitor Asset Manager or commonly called moninfo.exe as this is the file name you download. In my case the MC was recognizing my TV as a generic display. Sort of hit or miss as to whether the handshake would complete. This program created an custom inf file for my DLP TV. Has not failed the handshake since installed 3 weeks ago.
SJMayeUpdate- I used moninfo and is working without a hitch so far.
SJMayeI second the thought of ebay. My wife cannot stand learning different remotes. I now have the ole faithful MC remote with TV power button in each room. That setup works for the wife factor. I got all my remotes off ebay. I still get alerts on the correct model about 2 per week. Plan on paying more now. These must be in demand as they are going for higher prices now.
But, if that is what you want you will find them on ebay.
SJMayeA follow-up. Since the media center is the only input used on the TV I elected to connect the speakers to the MC directly. Got me around all the negatives in connecting to my TV audio out.
I purchased the Z623s. Simple 2 speakers and a sub. Not 19.1 channel Dolby digital, but in a very simple way adds good quality and depth of sound to my HTPC. KISS works for me.
Thank you for all the feedback and thoughts. It is appreciated.

I’d get a GT430 or GT440. AMD’s hardware is good, but the drivers are very sketchy.

Agreed on drivers, but all that said I have had a more positive experience with my AMD HD5670 than my prior card, nVidia 8600GT. The HD5670 worked great from the moment it was installed. I did have some issues with drivers which you and others here have helped me with. Now I have it set the way I want it and ignore any pop-ups indicating there are new drivers.
