I’m going to be the dissenting opinion here and say that it may be your drive speed. Use an I/O monitor (Process Explorer is a good one) to keep a log of disk activity so that you can see if that really is the culprit. You can also check network activity using that, so you may be able to determine exactly where the issue is. If WHS is moving a lot of data across your drives, then the disk speed will certainly impact performance. But, if it’s fairly balanced (each drive with identical free space) and you have a good amount of free space (so you aren’t hitting the OS drive for temporary storage and it’s not constantly rebalancing), then the drive extender tech shouldn’t be causing you issues.
I do agree that it could be network drivers causing this, however.
First off, this was done by the community, not SageTV themselves. (Although, to be fair, they do generally give out loads of assistance when the developers ask for it.) Android will probably be added later, but since this is being developed by one of the community users, he started with the Apple market.
Second, the benefit is for people who aren’t always at home to watch TV or don’t have a TV in every room. This allows them to bypass a full computer when they may only have their phone or if they don’t normally bring a computer with them on the train to work. The response to the plugin has been overwhelming and the developer was shocked, so clearly there’s a great demand for this. The kitchen might be another nice place to stream to your iPad for cooking shows or if you have the type of family which prefers to watch TV at the dinner table instead of talk.
Sometimes it’s tough to see beyond our own uses for technology.

Seriously? You prefer it that much over the Harmony? I have trouble picturing myself choosing that over my Harmony remote. (Granted, I don’t have that option since I’m using SageTV, but I digress.) Even after going through the entire review, while I was admittedly impressed, it just didn’t seem like something I’d want to use.

Oh, not bad. The X-Fi titanium does dolby digital live. Didn’t realize Creative included that on any of their cards.I guess the only other benefit you could get out of an Auzentech card at this point would be if you want the audio to go over HDMI
Since I have an ATI card with HDMI, I don’t think I could get the audio from the sound card to go out over the ATI or vice versa. Since I’ll only be using the X-fi for old games, I don’t think it’s a big deal to switch the audio source from the ATI to the X-fi.

Excellent to know… thanks!

Until we have 3, 4, or 5 companies vying for people’s dollars, there’s absolutely ZERO incentive for any of these companies to offer lower rates. Has anyone, EVER, had their monthly bill go DOWN? Or, have you ever been given something in your current package (that you actually wanted) without an increase? It will never happen, as long as these companies are given monopolies in their areas.

LOL! Well, I’m still enjoying “the Shat” hamming it up. Will it bother me if that gets canceled? Not really, but it’s another mindless show that I find amusing… much like I feel about Outsourced.

The X-Fi based Auzentech cards actually include the Creative Alchemy software with the driver package.
This was my thought…why look at buying a Creative card, when you can just buy one of the newer model Auzentech cards.
Unless I’m missing something, it’s $120-$250 (new, since I can’t find any used) for the Auzentech versus $60 for the X-fi Titanium (used, ebay).
