i’ll just wait for y’alls reviews of the new shows before i waste my hard drive space…so keep em coming! 🙂 wtf is Terriers about?

My biggest issue is how quickly these shows get cancelled.  I can live with a comedy being cancelled, since you haven’t invested much in it and most episodes stand on their own.  But, when there’s a longer story arc in play like most dramas or sci-fi shows, a cancellation really ticks you off.  Hence why The Event is being recorded, but not watched initially.  The other new shows are more comedic than drama.  Although, I really hope No Ordinary Family does well, since it could be a nice replacement for Heroes.

I’ve seen a couple commercial for “Chase” that make it look worthy of checking out the pilot. And there is another one from Jerry Bruckheimer that I have on a list. I think it might be Blue Bloods.

Bruckheimer is involved in Chase, so I’m not sure if he’s on another one, as well.    It sounded…  familiar… to me, so I decided to pass on it.  If it does well and people start raving about it, I might be persuaded, though.  I think Blue Bloods is doomed already.  I practically ruled it out just for the fact that Tom Selleck was in it.  I was never a Magnum PI fan and never really cared for any of his movies… except–maybe–Runaway (with Gene Simmons), which I only watched because of the Sci-Fi aspect and Simmons.

Are there any new shows worth recording in your opinion?

I’m running through the Series PRemiere previews again tonight and curious if theres anything that looks worth a look.
    [/quote]

I went back and bolded the new shows I’m going to check out.  This was based on watching previews of the show, not simply the descriptions I read online.

I was checking my settings and I see that Castle and several other programs are set to record tonight yet they all say they are repeats. In the settings I have it set to new episodes only. Any idea on what is going on?

    Thanks.

I assume you’re using MC, since my SageTV setup noted that these were repeats and episodes I had watched, so it didn’t schedule them to record.  I know SageTV gets the data from Zap2it.  Where does MC get it from?  Also, how often does it check for the repeat status?  I’m flying blind here, but any chance it wasn’t listed as a repeat when MC first scheduled it to record, but later that “repeat” info was added and MC didn’t react to the new info?

Arrggh. Way to go and make me dread getting to SG-U. Over the past few months I’ve been watching the entire SG-1 series (about to start season 8 and Atlantis concurrently) and planned to watch SG-U when finished. But good god, Voyager was the only Star Trek related thing I’ve ever hated. I’d purposely avoided reading anything about SG-U as to not spoil it so I didn’t even know it had a Voyager-like premise until now. Guess it’s better that I found out beforehand though. Now it will likely just end up as one of the dozens of things on my Netflix list that linger for years without getting watched (that’s what happens when you’ve been a member since 2001).

Sorry to have “ruined” it for you.  Hopefully I can still salvage it.  Let’s put it this way, they’re on a ship they don’t know how to navigate since it was built by the Ancients.  Hence, they’re sort of lost, like Voyager.  (This ends the similarity.)  The “crew” is not an SG team, but a group of people who managed to escape “something” (to avoid any spoilers for you) and take refuge on the ship.  So, there’s quite a bit of internal fighting (if you want to make a comparison to the Maquis crew joining Voyager, it’s a BIG stretch) and lots of character development, a la BSG.  So, they’re trying to figure out how get control of the ship and get home… again, the only real similarity to Voyager.

I’ll admit that I had very low expectations for SGU when I read the storyline, followed by the reviews, and people’s comments and comparisons.  However, I quickly got beyond that after the 2nd episode and was enjoying it quite a bit.  I was very upset when I finished the 1st season and had to wait.

My interpretation was that when you turn on ESVP, the software will quietly disable unsupported features, including resolutions, which is why I got a little concerned about trying to enable a mode which was disabled.

UPDATED:  New firmware enables multichannel PCM output on the HD300.

    You’re a little late.  😉  From the previous page…

A firmware update was released tonight that addresses the multi-channel PCM issue.  Non Dobly/DTS multi-channel formats are output as multi-channel PCM now.
