I found this forum post over at AMD. It would seem that DVI doesn’t carry audio. I have read that some vendors use some sort of “special” DVI-HDMI dongle which has extra pins (?!) to carry audio from your sound card, though.
skirge01ModeratorMake sure you use the missingremote link to amazon if you buy it.
flips
I’ll make it even easier:
Same link you’d wind up at if you used the search box here on Missing Remote.

Its not exactly stable .. my hdpvrs freeze daily.. so i wont be around to restart them. I figure I could use the new version of sagealert to do that.

Wow… still? I forget… who’s your provider? No sharing of a USB channel? Cable lengths are within spec? Locked to 720p or 1080i? Not using the IR blaster/receiver? Latest drivers? Analog or digital audio? Does it happen with analog?

just bought sagetv 7 and hd300. Old hd200 going into the living room for now since htpc there is broken. Now to set it up before i go on vacation on the 20th.

You’re making changes to a stable system right before leaving on vacation? What’s the matter with you people?!?! It seems I read about this type of situation all the time. 🙂 Umm.. good luck!
skirge01ModeratorI just wanted to add that I’m really liking the new site now. It did take some getting used to and there are still quite a few tweaks which need to be done, but, overall, it has grown on me quite a bit now that I’ve learned my way around (mostly).
Definitely a job well done, Mikinho!*
* I think we need more emoticons, since I was looking for a “clapping” one to put in here.

ur right on 12, but 11 is fixed for me. i just hit reply on your comment and i see it right above my reply box.
That’s right and that’s the issue. 🙂
The issue is two-fold:
When replying to a comment in a blog/review/guide post all the user can see is the comment the user is replying to, you cannot see the actual writeup (which comes in handy if trying to reference any information from the post in the comment) – FIXED
Issue one (red) is fixed, as you can see the comment you’re replying to. However, what you can’t see is the original writeup (blue) which caused all the comments. This would be the blog/story/review/guide which was originally posted. This was highlighted as I wrote this response, since as I wanted to copy and paste issue #11, as well as quote your reply, I couldn’t do so because only your reply was shown, not the original list. Make sense now?
This brings up issue #11, which would probably resolve both by simply showing all the comments, plus the original post/story/blog/review/guide.
skirge01Moderator11 & 12 do not seem to be fixed. When replying, you still only get to see the one you are replying to.
skirge01Moderator
Just spending some time on the site again and I just wanted to echo some of the earlier comments on recent forum posts. In the past that was the only way I was able to get around the forums.
I wanted to focus on this because I was also one who frequently used the recent posts at the top of the old site to get around the forums. Now, I use the “Recent Activity” list on the right to see what’s new. One definite improvement there is that the list is much longer, so more “new” activity is visible right on the front page now.
However, IMHO, what the old site didn’t do very well was show you all the unread posts/comments you had. For that, the new “Recent posts” link under your username on the right side is a welcome addition and I use that whenever I’m so far behind that the “Recent Activity” has more “new” info than can be shown. (Then I wonder why I was away for so long, but that’s another story… 😉 )
We’re still tweaking both of these, but I think everyone will like where we’re heading with them.
Definitely keep the ideas coming. Also, if you have strong feelings about something another person has mentioned, please feel free to chime in, as that will help us determine what we need to focus on.
skirge01ModeratorAll done. (Sorry, I had to sleep overnight. 🙂 ) Just slightly more than usual. There are usually 2 or 3 every evening.
skirge01ModeratorYou can still use RDP to connect directly to your machine, bypassing WHS entirely.
skirge01Moderator
With the RDP concurrent “patch” you can enable Remote Desktop on Home Premium but I do not know whether that works through WHS remote access.
WHS doesn’t allow remote access (via it’s web interface) to Windows 7 64 bit.
skirge01ModeratorCan’t help you with your issue, but (sorry, Mike) I really had this video (NSFW-language) going through my mind as I was reading your post.
skirge01ModeratorFirst thing I would try is uninstalling them both, deleting any drivers, and reinstalling them one at a time.
skirge01ModeratorWho knows how every setup will work, but I have a 50 foot cable from Blue Jeans Cable made by Tartancable, which cost me about $40. I wound up not using it, but (just for you) I hooked it up from my receiver to my 1080i 50″ plasma and it’s identical to the HDMI over Cat6 (again, about 50 feet) I’m currently utilizing. I can’t see a difference playing back Blu-ray rips at 1080i.
If you’re interested in buying this cable off of me for a good deal, send me a PM.
skirge01ModeratorNot exactly a Black Friday deal, but Slysoft did announce that as of 2011, there will be no further “lifetime upgrades” option for their software:
For new purchases only, as of January 1st 2011, SlySoft will discontinue the ‘lifetime’ update subscription. This is being announced well in advance to give everybody a final opportunity to acquire SlySoft products with lifetime free updates or change his limited subscription to lifetime.
To make your decision even easier, you’ll get a 20% discount on top, applicable to all products, including upgrades from AnyDVD to AnyDVD HD and subscription renewals for all SlySoft products.
This promotion is only valid until Friday, December 31 2010, so if you are entertaining the thought of purchasing one or more of our products, now is the right time to act…
