UPDATE: The account migration is fixed.  They even migrated my troublesome account tonight.

http://experts.windows.com/frms/general_topics/f/142/t/100806.aspx

After working 24 hours day for the last few days on this incredibly tricky problem, we believe we have resolved the issue some people were seeing with being able to sucesfully migrate a former TGB account.

Late last night (after 1am CST Sunday morning) MS contacted me that they have rolled out some fixes for TGB account migration.  They have fixed the Validation error now.  Those that haven’t tried since Saturday should try to migrate your account again.  You only get one try per password reset on your TGB account.  If the password box clears after your attempt then you have to reset your TGB password.

For some reason my account still won’t migrate.  I suspect it is due to creating a new temporary account and I have been posting a lot with it so the system must be having difficulty folding them together.

But over the day (Sunday) I have seen some people have now successfully been able to migrate their account the previously couldn’t.
rums need quite a bit of work as well but we are working on it and should be improved very soon (for the better….just making things easier)
I hope that the white space is addressed on this MR site.  The forums width here is fixed just like the new TGB.  That seems to be the number one complaint at the new site is the small screen area dedicated to the posts.  You can’t even view Frank’s Ceton order tracking post due to the limited post width allowed.

They have fixed some issues in the last few days on the new TGB.

• Search seems to work better now (didn’t really function at all before)
• Icons “?”, “<checkmark>” don’t over-lap text anymore
• The “Your Discussions” seems to function properly now
• System specs has been fixed for all users and works with Chrome now
• The advanced post editor now underlines miss-spelled words using Chrome’s spell checker and you can use cntrl-right click to fix spelling (regular right click menu is dedicated to the new editor).
• Topic notification emails are now working.

WhatHappend

I am working with MS on the validation error when trying to migrate my TGB account.  They are stumped so far and hoped to have it solved in the morning.

Others having the same issue might want to post here so they know I am not the only one:

http://experts.windows.com/frms/general_topics/f/142/p/100731/534279.aspx

They have fixed TGB password reset now.

People should leave constructive feedback to improve the new site here: http://experts.windows.com/frms/windows_entertainment_and_connected_home/f/23/t/100740.aspx

I have had contact with an Expert Community Admin that says they will be looking over feedback in the coming days to improve this communities’ usability based on our feedback.

George, You didn’t know TGB is owned by Microsoft?

I would not call Microsoft a small company.  Microsoft has plenty of resources and has absolutely no reason for a botched conversion.

New update from Pete with more delays and no new ETA…Frown

Anyone else wonder why they would choose to do this process over a holiday weekend??

It would have been real easy to practice the conversion on backup copies of the actual site and not attempted the conversion until the conversion on the backup was successful.

When is the new site going to be ready?  I would thing MS would update the site with any issues?
