News - CES 2018 - Axiim & WiSA

It would be impossible to tell the WiSA and Axiim stories separately for CES 2018, so we are going to have to combine the two here. From a straight technology perspective, not much seems to have changed with the WiSA standard. Aside from Axiim there have only been some minor changes to the available consumer hardware. Although some major brands have recently joined the alliance so we could see additional speaker options before the end of the year. They had an interesting demo available however, where an LG TV output stereo PCM audio to a WiSA USB dongle. Removing the need for a separate AVR.

News - CES 2018 - SVS

I wasn’t surprised at all that SVS puts on a good audio demo. Naturally both the SB-4000 and Ultra 5 speaker system I got to listen to briefly sounded great. But, I was not prepared to as impressed as I was by their “coming soon” Prime Wireless DTS Play-Fi enabled speaker.

News - CES 2018 - Fraunhofer & Sennheiser

One of the great things about actually going to CES, is that you get a chance to explore a little; and sometimes experience new and interesting things before they make it to market. The MPEG-H demo at the Fraunhofer booth was a perfect example of this.

News - SVS launches 4000 Series subwoofers

SVS is known for making amazing subwoofers, both from a performance and value perspective. So it is great to see them launching a new line that look fantastic and promise specs to shake the floor/room/house. The three models in the 4000 Series lineup offer different form factors and range price from $1500-$2000 (check the release below for more details). Like all SVS audio products these subs come with the 45 day risk free in home trial, but if you'd like to have a listen first - or just win some SVS products - they are holding demo events in quite a few locations around the US (also below).

News - Axiim announces "WM Series" WiSA speakers

If the idea of a wireless AVR+speaker system from Axiim sounds interesting to you, but were waiting for something a bit grander/larger/towery than what they've had on offer so far... The wait is over, for pre-order anyway with the just announced WM Series. The spec's look interesting and I would expect performance to be a step up from the existing system. Oh, and they come paired with the long awaited Q UHD (which looks to have finally popped up as well).

Head over to the Axiim website to have a look.

SVS's Elevation speakers are an interesting option for building out a Dolby Atmos setup because of their unique shape. This is the first review I've seen, and there weren't any major suprises (read they did well).

News - Axiim announces 4K Q, will upgrade existing users FOR FREE!

Wow. Just wow. It's not that often where you open a product announcement email to find out that the company is upgrading existing users for free. But, that's just what Axiim just did in their latest newsletter. Fixing one of my few, and arguably most important, complaints with the Q.

I need to lay down...

News - SVS announces Prime Elevation directional speaker

In an ideal world, we'd all have perfectly shaped theater rooms. With ample space to place speakers in all the right places to create the right sound now matter what. Unfortunately, architects and spouses don't always allow for these environments to takes shape. That's where the recently announced SVS Prime Elevation speaker comes in with an angled shape that lets you point the output in a more targeted way. Allowing us to get the best from the room we've been dealt Smile.

News - Raumfeld wireless speakers reviewed @ RHT

I hadn't heard of Raumfeld before, but after reading the review I'm quite intrigued. While there are few issues pointed out by the reviewer, it seems like solid kit and a welcome entrant in to the wireless home audio market.

News - SVS brings SoundPath pivoting bracket to market

SVS Sound does a great job with accessories. Good looking and reasonably priced (just like the speakers Smile). They have introduced a pivoting wall/ceiling mount to help you build the perfect Dolby Atmos setup using Prime Satellites for height and width channels. I didn't see any pricing info in the PR, will update if I hear back on it.

Update: Cheaper than I expected. $40/pair.
