High-def DVD player woes hit TV market
I don't think this is a surprise to anyone. Would you spend $500-1000 without knowing that the format will be around to stay?
"Many customers also are reluctant to buy because of a battle between
two high-definition formats, HD-DVD and Blu-ray, says electronics
analyst Rosemary Abowd with Pacific Media Associates. The
HD-DVD/Blu-ray battle is expected to end with one being forced out of
the market. Since a typical HD-DVD player costs around $500, and a
Blu-ray player about $1,000, most shoppers are waiting to see how it
plays out, Abowd says."
