Barenaked Ladies: New Album. Free. No DRM. Now.
Drove downtown in the rain 9:30 on a Tuesday night!
I am a big Barenaked Ladies (BNL) and am very happy that they are leading the fight against the RIAA. The might be an exageration but they are going to be offering their latest albumn without DRM and at a decent price. Here are a few links that will get you started about DRM free music.
Techcrunch article:
The service is now starting to make real progress with labels, too. They’ve signed a deal with Nettwerk Music Group, which will be uploading their entire library to Amie Street over the next few months. The first music to go up on the site is the new Barenaked Ladies album, Barenaked Ladies Are Men. All sixteen songs from the album are available here.
Amie Street is a music site that allows bands to upload music and is downloadable in a DRM free MP3 format. This allows a much larger percentage of the profit to go to the band. The are getting a lot of attention today so the site is a bit slow.
This next link will take you to the new BNL albumn called "Barenaked Ladies Are Men". I have yet to hear a song but I am willing to buy this one without previewing a song. Not for the DRM support but just because I really like the band:). I recommend listening to their first albumn titled Gordon. As well, if you can find it, check out Barenaked On A Stick, it is a collection of live events and is well worth the listen.
