Cheap Blu-ray!
For the low low price of $300 you can buy yourself into the format wars. Amazon is selling Samsung’s BD-1400 BR player for $299 and free shipping. This certainly puts it within sniffing distance of the HD DVD camp. Spec wise, the BD-1400 has some sexy goin’ on. 1080p/24 for Blu-ray, 1080p upconversion, HDMI 1.3, and support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD makes this a killer deal (as Blu-ray players go). Do note that is a profile 1.0 player, so it isn’t ready to take advantage of the interactive bells and whistles on deck for 2008 titles.
