Linksys Extender Review

Given Microsoft’s strategy of having Vista Media Center in almost every home computer, you would think the extender experience would be a top priority for the VMC team. According to Chris, it falls short in a couple of areas including file support. As Chris mentioned in his article, perhaps the biggest way for MS to make a splash is to include the software in other consumer devices such as Blu-ray players.

I’d give the Linksys DMA2200 a 6/10. It still needs a lot of work, and I really feel at this point with it being a second generation product that these issues shouldn’t exist. For simply extending the “core” Media Center experience (minus videos), the DMA2200 is fantastic. However, it still lacks in providing format support to bring the device to the level it should be.
