Long time home theater information staple Audio Video Science Forum just suffered a massive setback today:
AVS Forum Community:
On the morning of August 11, AVS Forum suffered a major failure in the database and backup storage. As such, we have no choice but to recover from August 2nd.
This represents tens of thousands of lost posts and new threads for the last week. There is nothing we can do about it at this time but move forward. We are sorry about the loss and will work to be sure this does not happen again. We are as upset about this as you may be, more than likely even more.
Regretfully,
AVS Forum
The loss of over a week’s worth of posts is terrible, I hope they can somehow recover the missing data and impliment even better progressive backup abilities, backing up the huge number of posts they get in a day must make backups quite intensive. It’s a shame to see such a huge member of our home theater community be set back like that.
And don’t worry loyal Missing Remoters we have a nightly backup to an off site server, so we should be OK in the event of something nasty (fingers crossed).
