Nielsen: More Homes Have More TVs

I’m not sure if this increase has as much to do with content available or simply the convenience and decrease in cost of television hardware, but it’s a positive sign for TV manufacturers for sure.

Nielsen finds that the average American home has 2.86 TVs, which is about 18 percent higher than in 2000 (2.43 sets per house) and 43 percent higher than 1990 (2 sets). Nielsen also found that there continues to be more TVs per home than people (2.5). According to Nielsen, 54 percent of homes have more than three TVs, 28 percent have two TVs and only 18 percent have only one TV.
