New HP MediaSmart WHS Servers Announced

WeGotServed is ALL over the news of the just announced MediaSmart WHS Servers from HP, the EX490 and EX495. The 495 is on my wish list, as it includes a dual core CPU to go along with it’s 1.5TB hard drive. Kudos to HP for continuing onward with this product line which has clearly been a success for them. I hope former owners are able to benefit from the new software, just like in the past.

If you already own the EX47x or Ex48x series HP MediaSmart Servers, one of the most noticeable improvements you’ll see in the new generation is the improved user interface, built into the Windows Home Server console. Whilst much of the core functionality is similar to v2.5 of HP’s MediaSmart Server software (with the exception of improved video conversion controls and radically improved Mac support), the look and feel is a lot sharper as you can see from the shots below.
