Thursday Podcast Roundup, Lots about CES

Tons of podcasts in the last week, as usually is the case with a big show like CES, so enjoy!

Engadget HD Podcast 173 – 1.13.2009

CES is officially over but we’re still trying to catch up on all the news, so we talk a little 3D without glasses and why it isn’t ready for prime time as well as different ways 3D can be transmitted vs displayed. Although we love 3D we haven’t forgotten about the basics so we discuss the Panasonic contrast demo and the little tru2way that was at the show. We finish things off with a little nostalgic HD DVD talk as well as some new movie streaming and info available when we watch movies.

The Media Center Show #239 – CES Interviews

Lots of interviews from CES this week. I walked miles to get you a good selection of interviews and this week I have:

Seen in HD #19 – CES Post Mortem, Adventureland Blu-ray

What better place to start CES 2010 talk than with 3D. It was hands down the news of the show. HDTVs, Blu-ray, gaming. Everyone got in on the action. Lots to talk about, and too many articles to link to. We remain skeptical. New equipment for everyone is a big ask in an era where HDTV penetration has jumped due to things like the DTV transition. However, Ars Technica has it right when they say you soon won’t have a choice but to buy 3D capable sets.

HD Nation » Episode 27: 3D HDTV: Exploding the CES Hype! Boxee vs Popbox, .3

It’s CES 2010! 3D HDTV Was Everywhere (Robert found the best!) DIY CableCard: EngadgetHD’s Ben Drawbaugh has the scoop. 720p Skype: LG and Panasonic Promise Skype HDTVS. RGBY? Sharp Adds a Fourth Pixel. Two Great Settop Boxes: Boxee Box by Dlink And The PopBox. Blu-ray releases for January 12th, 2010.

HDTV and Home Theater Podcast – Podcast #407: Preview of CES 2010

We typically don’t expect anything big in the way of speakers but we got an email from Marcus asking us to check out a Klipsch speaker system that screws in like a light bulb. The system is based on a LED light and a wireless speaker that operates on the 2.4 Ghz frequency. A base station and two speakers go for $600. A standalone speaker goes for $250

Entertainment 2.0-Episode 59: 2010 Media Center Prediction Show

For those of you wondering why we’d be releasing a CES and 2010 prediction show after the Microsoft CES keynote, well, we recorded right before Mr. Ballmer took the stage and snuck in our final predictions for you. We didn’t just talk CES though. We walk our way all the way through 2010 so for the next year you’ll have plenty of chances to write or call us and let us know how wrong we are…maybe.

Engadget HD Podcast 172: CES 2010 day 3

We’re nearly to the end of the long CES grind and it’s starting to show. Still, we made it through and recorded one more ‘cast before saying goodbye to Vegas, so be prepared for plenty of impressions of our hands on of many, many TVs, Mediaroom 2.0, just what Disney’s Keychest is & is not, IPTV on Blu-ray players and finally a breakdown of the 3D Blu-ray spec.

Engadget HD Podcast 171: CES 2010 day 2

Day 2 of CES is done and the sleep deprivation is really starting to take its toll. During yesterday’s show we had some difficulties, so we went back over the same topcis so you wouldn’t have to do without. We were able to successfully convert one other Engadgeteer into a 3D fan so we invited him on the show to tell his story. If you like Media Center news there is plenty of it as we talk CableCARD tuners form Ceton and SiliconDust. And don’t worry, there is more of this where this came from.

Engadget HD Podcast 170 – CES 2010 day 1

Finally – CES is upon us and of course we took some time on the evening before the floor opened to talk about the most exciting events so far, and yet to come. Unfortunately an audio glitch stole away some quality 3D discussion right around the middle, but even if we don’t make it home from Vegas, allow these surviving elements to be our last report, at least until tomorrow.

The Media Center Show #238 – CES 2010 Part 1

This week I am in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show and I have a great collection of interviews for you. In part one of the CES coverage I have pre and post keynote chat from bloggers Andrew Edney, Terry Walsh, Jim Clark, Dave McCabe and Garry Whittker plus interviews from Avermedia talking TV tuners including placeshifting and HD-PVR, D-Link taking about there network products including the new Boxee box.
