Comcast Reports Drop in Cable Subscribers; Blames Economy
In case you missed this today, some pretty interesting comments coming from the head of the largest cable company as to why his company has lost over a quarter of a million customers. Comcast is annually ranked among the worst customer service, they have bandwidth caps, don’t offer much extras to their customers, and charge an absurd amount of fees—but I’m sure he’s right and once the economy picks up all of those will be back soon.
275,000 Comcast subscribers cut the cord last quarter. Its subscriber count is down 3.5% from the same quarter last year. To be fair, some of that loss was offset by a gain in 219,000 digital cable subs. Revenue was up as customers bought higher priced bundles of tv, internet and phone service.
