Kinect on Media Center? Closer than you think
This is FAR from official, but a guy by the name of Wolfgang Herfurtner is working on an open source driver for the Kinect that would work with Media Center. Special thanks to Derek Flickinger for the heads up.
Kewl
Talk about carpel tunnel elbow and shoulder…wow!
I think that it’s a great idea to migrate Kinect technology to PC, bye bye Gyration. I’d love to have the option to use a mouse, touch screen or Kinect at my discrection when using my PC or HTPC.
thats def sweet. Not so much
thats def sweet. Not so much for the keyboard though, but it gives a good example of how accurate the kinect really is. Using it for media center would be nice for panning back and forth, but maybe not so much for changing channels?
Someone needs to make a dual
Someone needs to make a dual output adapter for Kinect then. I can’t see buying two of them.
MS would make a killing if they could get that Kinect functionality shrunk down to the size where it can fit into the bezel of a laptop ot TV screen.
First of all.. awesome
First of all.. awesome work!
but…. it would be even better if they could get the click-n-drag move with one hand instead of two. An example would be the palm out gesture would get the initial cusor moving and then a flick of the wrist in any direction would get the swipe response that we all know and love. It would be easier on the arm. I’m thinking there are so many cuts in this video because the dude’s arm got too tired.

Yeah but the way it is now is great for aspiring mimes.
OK I have to admit, that’s
OK I have to admit, that’s pretty cool. I’ve got a kinect, and really have no interest in gesture navigation (but god do I LOVE voice navigation!). This video kinda makes me want to change my mind haha. Hello Minority Report? OK nowhere even close, but a nice step in the right direction.
