November 16th Blu-ray Releases

A whole lot of 3D releases this week, and me without my 3D tv, so I’ll have to rely on Swoon and Andrew to let me know how they are. Other than that big push for 3D, a fairly lackluster week for releases.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

I guess this caught me off guard that this all-time classic had not been released on Blu-ray yet. While not going to benefit much (the movie is definitely not an action or special effects movie), but it really is one of the all time greatest movies I’ve ever seen. If you have not seen this, please do. Story is about Andy Dufrain, who is a prison inmate eager to escape for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. I know it sounds unexciting, but trust me…you’ll thank us!

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with ** next to the title.

  • Definitely going wth The

Definitely going wth The Shawshank Redemption.  Love the movie, love the book (well novella).

  • Shawshank

Great choice, Mike. It has actually been out a while, but in the Digibook format.

I’m probably picking up the Christmas Carol flick as the 3D is supposed to be good and you know, we’re starving for 3D.

  • WC
My copy of 2010 WC highlights showed up yesterday 🙂

  • The Last Airbender was also

The Last Airbender was also released this week (meh).  So was Falling Down.  I don’t know if Blu-ray will matter much for Falling Down quality wise, but I always liked the movie.

    • good catch. I actually had

good catch. I actually had them in there on one of my revisions, but after re-doing it so many times i forgot to add them back in, sorry!

That being said…The Last Airbender was painful IMO. I know Mr. JamesMontegnegro from the movie podcast was a big fan of it, but man, i sure hope they don’t make a trilogy out of it. I agree with his co-host that it had so much potential and then was some of the lamest fight sequences ever.

Fallen on the other hand….AWESOME 🙂

  • Anyone looking to pick up

Anyone looking to pick up this non-digibook version of The Shawshank Redemption might want to stop by Walmart. I picked up a copy there for $10 + tax. The packaging is unique in that it is “pre-wrapped” so that you can give it as a gift. Once unwrapped, the BD package is exactly the same you would purchase normally.

There were also other titles such as 300 and Sherlock Holmes for the same price and in the same type of packaging.
