Blu-ray Releases – February 8, 2011

I’m sorry if you enjoyed Paranormal Activity 2 and were expecting it to be our pick of the week given my propensity to select horror/suspense films, but I’ve now been bored in both of those films. I honestly intended to watch “I Spit On Your Grave” but didn’t get to it, but I’ve heard it’s quite the film, albeit disturbing. Wild Target was quite entertaining in it’s own right, and of course Uncle Buck is a classic John Candy comedy which if you haven’t seen, you really must.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

Middle Men is the story of how online payments basically began, primarily for the porn industry but then eventually branching out. Based on a true story (how true is up to you, the story is pretty out there), but it includes lots of twists, turns, mafias and of course, women and parties. I found it rather amusing although a bit hectic, and even if only parts are true it’s still a good watch. Nowhere close to Social Network, but still quite entertaining performances from Luke Wilison and Giovanni Ribisi.

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.

And I was sure you’d go for Barb Wire 😛

btw….For those Ong Bak fans…Ong Bak 3 isn’t as good as Onk Bak 2 but still worth watching if you like Tony Jaa

  • ya know what’s funny, I

ya know what’s funny, I *loved* Ong Bak 1, and Ong bak 2 was just meh for me…and i couldn’t even finish Ong Bak 3. Just felt way too much like the sequel

    • George L. Schmauch Jr.

I believe I fast forwarded through the entire movie a long time ago, looking for any “good” parts and was sorely disappointed.  I actually did a similar thing recently with Land of the Lost, but for completely different reasons (Sleestaks).

If you’re looking for a classic “thriller” without tons of bloodshed, River Wild was a pretty enjoyable movie when I first watched it years ago.  Looking back, it’s difficult to believe that was Kevin Bacon in the role.  I don’t know that he’d be able to sell himself as such a character anymore.

I haven’t seen the 3rd, but that is exactly like I felt for 1 and 2.  I was excited to see this released, but not as much now..  🙂  Will probably still rent it.
