Computex 2011 Roundup
Did you know that Computex was going on overseas right now? It’s one of the biggest trade shows of the year with almost all of the major computer companies showing their latest and greatest. I’m not going to bombard the homepage with one-off articles and press announcements from here, instead I’ll use this post in our forums to keep updating new items as I find them. Feel free to add your own favorite articles or products.
- Arctic Cooling Shows Off Fanless Media PC via Tom’s Hardware – Neat but Atom-based
- Anandtech’s Look at Twelve X79 Motherboards at Computex
- Patriot Box Office Alpine: Android Based Media Streamer @Anandtech – Yes, we will try to get this to review after reviewing the original. Sounds awesome!
- Computex 2011 Day 1 – The Doors are Open via NinjaLane
- AMD E-450 chip seen on Computex show floor via TechReport
- QNAP Shows Off New Goods at Computex – NAS with Media Player…interesting!
- New 5.25″ Optical Drive Standard: Slimmer, Slot-loading – This is just weird, why create a new standard for 5.25″ drives? Why not just adopt the laptop size standard??
- Asus ‘Cedar Trail’ mini-ITX motherboard on display
- Silverstone Case Round-Up
- Zalman Case Round-Up
Keep checking back, more to come from this fun show. Wish I could’ve gone!
One of the best things I have
One of the best things I have seen coming out of Computex is that just about all the new motherboards coming out feature all PCIe expansion slots.

I’d guess that BOM cost and durability are big reasons why.
I can’t wait for the newer
I can’t wait for the newer 5.25 drives to come out, I’m glad that slot loading drives are making a come back on the desktop. 🙂
