Blu-ray Releases – August 9, 2011

Another good film for 80’s films with Dazed & Confused and Fast Times At Ridgement High. It’s fun watching those films today and seeing just how many of those actors became big stars over the years. One final note…I saw “Super,” and it is deceptively violent and very adult natured, so don’t be fooled by the comic book theme–I somewhat enjoyed it.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

If you enjoyed Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, then there’s a VERY good likelihood that you will enjoy Paul–starring the same two actors from those films. These two brits are always an entertaining pair and they team up here with an alien Paul who is voiced by Seth Rogan on their road trip. I haven’t seen this yet but I can’t wait, it looks hilarious!

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.

Paul!  I haven’t seen this either, but I am VERY much looking forward to this one.

I haven’t watched either of those movies Mike referenced, but I am looking forward to seeing Paul.

Has anyone seen Your Highness?  The previews looks pretty damn good, but it tanked in the theaters, no doubt at least partially due to it being rated R.

Big fan of Dazed and Confused. Gotta love Matthew McConaughey’s line “That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age” haha. Pretty much a breakout role for him. Also, pretty sure that movie was from the 90s 😉

    • That was a memorable line.

That was a memorable line. Great movie. Fast Times is another classic. I am interested in Paul simply because I loved Hot Fuzz so if it is anything close to that, I’ll enjoy.

Honestly…it’s not. I thought Hot Fuzz was hysterical, where Paul was just mildly amusing. Still worth a watch for sure, i mean those two’s chemistry is there, but too much Seth Rogan. And of course nowhere close to Shaun of the Dead
