Ceton InfiniTV Driver Updated
Just a quick note: Ceton has released a new driver and firmware today for the InfiniTV. I have been using them for about a week and have not encountered any issues.

Still love my INfiniTV 4,
Still love my INfiniTV 4, any Idea if i can share a tuner to a VM of W7 Ultimate on Hyper V?
I am not well-versed in VMs
I am not well-versed in VMs in Hyper-V. Are you saying you want to house InfiniTV in a Windows Server running Hyper-V where the Win7 VM also is and you want to expose the InfiniTV to the Win7 VM?
Yes you can.
Yes you can. See http://www.missingremote.com/guide/override-digital-cable-advisor-windows-media-center-7 for some hints.
I’ve been running networked
I’ve been running networked ceton on ws 2008 r2 with a hyper-v w7 ultimate as my only client media center wextender viewing. One problem I was having was needing to reboot the w7 vm a couple of times a day to due to lossing the tuners “service unavailable”. So I installed the new driver and firmware from ceton hoping that may help some of my issues but ran into the following.
The install fails to complete on the host ws2008r2, the diagnostics app shows up and the driver gets updated but when I launch the app it fails to load. I know its not supported on WS but the older version did load. I was able to update the firmware and eveything fine by running the diagnostics from the client w7 machine. From the w7 vm I can see the tuners in my browser with the new ip, evertying seems fine but I can’t get the ceton config to show up in media center strip. It’s an option and checked in start menu extras menu but doesn’t show up. Therefore I can’t re-assign the tuners to htpc.
Connect to your virtual via
Connect to your virtual via Hyper-V MMC not via RDP. The add-in is marked as console-only since Live TV Signal Setup is only available on the console.
Doh, that was it – thanks
Doh, that was it – thanks Michael.
I’ve received the service unavalaible again since the driverfirmware upgrade in between viewing sessions today. Is there a common cause or area I can look into for resolving this? Currently have private firewall’s disabled, latest intel network driver, host and client set to never sleep, re-booting client always fixes issue.
I had little or no issues
I had little or no issues with the previous firmware and wish I had not updated. I now receive ‘files are not present to play back this media’ errors which I hardly ever saw in the past. The error says to restart media center or restart the PC.
I’m not familiar with that
I’m not familiar with that error message. Do you mean that you get the error overlay: ” VIDEO ERROR – Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Center and/or restart the computer.” ?
If this is the error that you receive, have you tried disabling Windows Media Center navigation sounds? This error is somewhat common when using HDMI audio with navigation sounds in WMC enabled.
That is the one. I was
That is the one. I was getting audio errors as well but have not seen either error after several reboots. Early on this was an issue for me but ATI driver updates seemed to take care of it. I do have sounds while navigating Media Center turned off on extenders (two Xbox 360s) as well as screen animations. Everything is working great after lots of tweaking.
I was experiencing the same
I was experiencing the same problem. For some reason, it doesn’t like when you bridge the NIC and the Ceton card. It was been working flawless since i deleted the bridge and disabled the feature from the Ceton card.
p.s. You have to reconfigure WMC after you do the above.
Try it out and see if it works for you as it does for me.

I have both bridged a bridged setup (WHS 2011 server) and a non-bridged setup (main HTPC). Updated to the new firmware on both and after reconfigure the 4 different WMC machines, everything works again. Although now I have to update the channel line-ups with guidetool to get rid of the channels I don’t want to see in the guide (again).
It would be nice if when Ceton provides an update that they would avoid updating whatever data causes WMC to see it as a “new” TV Tuner and thus requiring a re-setup of live TV in WMC. A software/firmware update should not require a complete reconfigure. Maybe this issue is even worth a Ceton support ticket…
With the 1402 driver, I do
With the 1402 driver, I do have support for 4 tuners, but now I seem to have a problem with the TA rebooting. If I have several recordings ending at 10:00 and several recordings starting at 10:00 there is a 50/50 chance that the recordings starting at 10:00 will fail, and the tuning adapter will restart.
That sounds quite strange.
That sounds quite strange. You should definitely file a support ticket with Ceton to see if they can help you out.
If you persistent issues
If you persistent issues please open a ticket via http://www.cetoncorp.com/support/ so it can be fixed and tracked
I have posted a ticket. My
I have posted a ticket. My last response from Ceton was to contact my Cable Company to get a updated driver for the TA. There is supposed to be a 1501 driver, but unfortunately Time Warner cable doesn’t have a clue (I had 1 rep ask me what a tuning adapter is for). So now I don’t know what to do. I have a second tuning adapter which is not currently in use. I’m going to give that one a try just to rule out a faulty tuning adapter.
I think you mean Tuning
I think you mean Tuning Adapter Firmware. You should ask to speak to a supervisor until you get someone who knows what a TA is and can understand what firmware on the TA is.
