Amazon Adds Paramount Pictures to Prime Instant Videos
In early February, Amazon and Viacom signed a deal to bring many of Viacom’s television programs to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service. At the time, we noted that the deal did not include any movies and speculated that Amazon would need to ink a separate deal with Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures. Sure enough, Amazon announced this week that they have signed a three year deal with Paramount that will bring hundreds of movies to Prime Instant Videos including Star Trek, Nacho Libre, and Mission Impossible. The announcement wasn’t exactly earth-shattering given that Amazon and Viacom had already gotten cozy, but it’s always nice to see the major streaming services continue to build out their selection.
Amazon continues to invest in Prime Instant Video and add to the already-vast selection of movies and TV episodes available to customers as part of their Prime membership. Amazon.com, Inc. today announced a licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures that brings hundreds of new hit movies to Prime Instant Video in the U.S. over the next three years.
