Amazon Adds NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution Content to Prime Instant Video
Amazon has inked yet another content distribution deal for Prime Instant Video, this time for television programs distributed by NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution. Amazon isn’t bragging quite as much as usual about the number of new episodes that the deal brings, but it does bring some relatively high profile series including Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, and Parks and Recreation. Admittedly, all or most of the series mentioned in the press release have been available on Netflix for some time now, but it never hurts to see Amazon continue to push for parity with its more entrenched competitor, especially given the growing importance of the Amazon Prime program.
“We are excited to be working with NBCUniversal to add their award-winning lineup of TV shows such as Parks and Recreation and Friday Night Lights to Prime Instant Video,” said Brad Beale, Director of Digital Video Content Acquisition for Amazon. “We continue to invest heavily in our content selection for Prime members, and have now reached over 22,000 movies and TV episodes available instantly with unlimited streaming.”
