Plex Is Getting More Expensive
Got Plex? If so, you probably already know about the upcoming changes to pricing. If you were thinking about picking up that lifetime pass, now’s probably a good time:
We’re working harder than ever to bring more Plex goodness to all your favorite devices, and we’re super excited about the things we’re working on and can’t wait to share them with you over the next few months! With premium features and content, sometimes come moderate cost increases. So on September 29, 2014 we’ll be making some changes to our Plex Pass subscription rates for new subscribers:
- Monthly Plex Pass subscriptions will increase from $3.99 to
$4.99 per month.- Annual Plex Pass subscriptions will increase from $29.99 to
$39.99 per year.- Lifetime Plex Passes will increase from $74.99 to
$149.99.

I wasn’t even aware that you had to pay to use Plex. I had thought about giving it a try at some point, but now that’s definitely not going to happen.
I’ve always been a fan of
I’ve always been a fan of Media Browser (especially now with MB3) over both Plex and My Movies, and knowing in detail how Plex came to be from its ‘OSX port of XBMC’ roots, I have some biases against Plex. But yet and still, I think the price increases are pretty fair. The lifetime tier’s increase is kinda high, so if you use Plex nearly daily and don’t already have the yearly, now is the time.
