The Wirecutter chooses best universal remote

Mar 23 2016

In what can only be called a Harmony lovefest, The Wirecutter has picked out a few universal remotes at different price points. Naturally they are all Harmony branded, and while I would normally take issue with that kind of ah... focus, in this case it's really hard to argue. I've used Harmonly remotes for years, and frankly, it would take something really special to displace it.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use universal remote to control up to eight devices, we recommend the Logitech Harmony 650. It’s the best option for most people looking to simplify the operation of their home theater or media system. It’s easier to program than any non-Harmony remote. Its backlit hard-button layout makes it simple to use, even in the dark, and it’s way cheaper than other systems that are equally comprehensive.
