With the slew of Dolby Vision (DV) capable UltraHD Blu-ray players announced at CES, becoming available soon. I expected that the dearth of discs sporting the superior HDR format to be over by now. Apparently however, this might not be strictly a chicken v. egg problem that most new formats experience if the comments on this post are correct. There’s some really interesting information around the technical challenges of getting the necessary bits on the disc. I was aware of the DV stored as a difference layer on top of HDR10, but most of the other things are news to me. Great stuff, ignoring the more hyperbolic shouty parts
