Smart Toaster Thunderdome @ CES 2019
Ok… I am a sucker for fancy kitchen gadgets, and adding “smarts” to the mix only makes them more interesting. I like the idea of being able to check in my my food from another room in the house via the camera in the oven/toaster/air fryer, dehydrator, etc. Which is there, and this is the awesome part (assuming it really works) to automatically take photos of your food FOR INSTAGRAM. Ok… that’s not really true (or at least I don’t think it is); the camera is there to recognize the thing you’ve put in the mutli-purpose cooking device so it can make it perfectly. Which is even more awesome!
Saw a couple of these guys at the show, and I was mightily impressed. Both are really neat, but I think the June has the edge for me over the WLabs. First off because of the $200 price difference ($599 v $799), but also because they are able to add functionality via OTA updates (which is a bit scary too). But unfortunately there are a couple problems with both. First, neither is available yet, only pre-order, but also not built-in option. Ugh.
